You’re not crazy! Undoubtedly you have been told not to make this trip by loved ones, friends and others. The one question to ask yourself is "How many of these people have made this trip, and what is their level of firsthand knowledge?"
It is perfectly understandable to be leery of the unknown, after all, all we hear is negative press about foreign countries, so don't blame your friends and family for being concerned. There is one reason why we don't hear positive stories about travel in foreign countries ... good news does not sell papers or increase ratings on television.
